When you smile, laugh, frown, or look puzzled, you contract the muscles of your face. Over time, these contractions produce permanent furrows and deep wrinkles in the skin, especially around the eyes and mouth, between the eyebrows, and on the forehead. These lines can make you look older, sad, angry or tired. BOTOX® Cosmetic treatments can not only prevent you from deepening these lines during natural facial movements, they can also erase these marks of aging, leaving you looking younger and refreshed. Botox is performed by all three of our board-certified dermatologists.

Fraxel® is a unique noninvasive laser therapy designed to dramatically improve skin texture and pigmentation, including the treatment of fine lines and wrinkles, acne scars, surgical scars, and sun damage. Fraxel® utilizes fractional resurfacing technology, where only a small fraction of the skin receives the laser light. The treatment delivers a series of microscopic laser spots, while simultaneously preserving areas of unaffected, healthy skin. The healthy cells in the untouched spots promote rapid healing of the entire area, resulting in faster recovery time and minimal side effects. The result is softer, smoother and healthier skin without an uncomfortable healing period.

The world's most popular and most studied cosmetic dermal fillers, Restylane® and its new companion Perlane® offer exceptional treatments for moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, especially the nasolabial folds that stretch from the nose to the corners of the mouth. Restylane and Perlane replenish lost volume in the skin and restore youthful contours to the face by lifting and supporting tissues non-surgically. The outcome is a younger, smoother look with fewer lines and wrinkles. Results are immediate and long-lasting. At Bloomfield Dermatology, Restylane and Perlane are injected by a board-certified dermatologist, not a technician. Technique is very important when injecting any filler. Our goal is to soften lines and restore a youthful appearance, not to make you look "overly done."

Recently approved by the FDA, Juvéderm™ products are made with hyaluronic acid, a natural substance found in the body that works with collagen and elastin to provide volume and support to the skin. They come in two formulas optimized for the depth of the area being treated. Juvéderm™ Ultra and Juvéderm™ Ultra Plus use a more advanced, cross-linked formula for the correction of moderate to severe wrinkles or folds in the mid- to deep dermis. Treatment takes only 15 minutes with immediate results and no downtime. Results typically last about 6-9 months and can be made to last even longer with a simple follow-up treatment a few weeks after the initial injection. This procedure is performed by a board-certified dermatologist, not a technician.

Sculptra counteracts the loss of fat beneath the skin (a condition called lipoatrophy) helping to restore volume to the face. It is injected just below the surface of the skin to improve the appearance of sunken cheeks, indentations and wrinkles. Its main component is poly-L-lactic acid, a biocompatible and biodegradable material. It has been used for 20 years in surgical products such as dissolvable sutures. Sculptra provides a gradual increase in skin thickness. A series of treatments approximately 6 weeks apart are needed. Results can last up to two years.
